Portugal is a top destination for couples dreaming of an unforgettable wedding and the list of reasons is long. From sun-soaked beaches and charming vineyards to luxurious estates and historic palaces, Portugal offers breathtaking venues that cater to every style and vision. Whether you're searching for the best wedding venues in Portugal, especially near Lisbon, or wedding venues with on-site accommodation for your guests, I hope this guide will make one of the most important decisions a little easier!

As a wedding photographer based in Portugal, I’ve had the privilege of capturing love stories in some of the country’s most iconic and intimate settings. This list of venues is not affiliated, but simply highlights some of my favourite wedding venues in Lisbon and the surrounding areas that I’ve had the joy of photographing at.

Forte da Cruz, Estoril

Distance from Lisbon centre: 35 minutes

The perfect venue for couples dreaming of a wedding in a fortress-looking-castle by the beach. You can hold your ceremony indoors for a cosy atmosphere or outdoors with stunning ocean views. It is best suited for weddings with up to 80 guests.

As an exclusive space by Penha Longa Catering, I can promise you’re in for good food and hospitality.

Quinta de Sant’Ana do Gradil, Mafra

Distance from Lisbon centre: 45 minutes

Definitely one of my forever favourite venues. Nestled in the Portuguese countryside, this one is perfect for couples that love to be surrounded by nature. From its lush vineyards to their home-grown wild flowers, Quinta de Sant'Ana is a picturesque wine estate that truly makes any destination wedding in Portugal a dream to talk about.

With 5 family style houses, it means you and some of your guests can also stay there. Bonus points: they have chickens running around and the most friendly dogs that really make you feel part of the family.

Perfect for smaller, intimate weddings, Casa Sacoto is a family-owned traditional Portuguese manor that exudes rustic-modern charm. If you envision yourselves surrounded by rolling hills, friends, delicious food, and drinks, capped off with a late-night dip in the pool, this is the venue for you.

Casa Sacoto offers two wedding packages, depending on the number of event days you’re planning (wedding day + pre-wedding reception or post-wedding celebration). Both packages guarantee exclusive use of the space for 10 hours, accommodate up to 80 guests, and include lodging for 8 people (with a maximum capacity of 10).

Quinta da Conceição, Azeitão

If you’re looking for Portugal wedding venue with accommodation, Quinta da Conceição Historic Country Retreat is my favourite! It offers a variety of unique spaces, including the stunning main Solar, which can accommodate up to 32 guests, and a Secret Garden that fills the air with the most magical floral aroma—it's truly unforgettable. The venue also features a swimming pool, spacious grounds perfect for all kinds of al fresco activities, and a tent to ensure your celebration can go on, no matter the weather.

Located just outside Lisbon, Quinta do Torneiro is a historic manor house that feels quintessentially Portuguese – from its grand tiled panels to its charming architecture and interiors, it’s truly a special place.
Fun fact: this was the first venue I photographed a wedding at in Portugal after moving from London!

It’s an exclusive space by Casa do Marquês Catering, another company I can truly say will take the best care of you and your guests.

Pestana Palace, Lisbon

Distance from Lisbon centre: 15 minutes

As one of Lisbon’s most luxurious venues, Pestana Palace is a 5 star hotel that offers unparalleled elegance and sophistication. From the 19th-century, it features lavish ballrooms (believe me: breathtaking!), exquisite gardens, and a dedicated team to ensure every detail of your wedding is perfect.

It is better suited for smaller, intimate weddings.

Herdade do Perú, Azeitão

Distance from Lisbon centre: 45 minutes

Perfect for couples seeking a blend of natural beauty, elegance, and quiet luxury, Herdade do Peru is a countryside estate overlooking Serra da Arrábida (definitely one of my favourite parts of Portugal) that exudes tranquility at every turn.

From the moment you pass through the grand entrance gates, you’ll drive through vineyards, instantly understanding why this place is so special. The Versailles-inspired gardens are yet another breathtaking feature that will leave everyone impressed.

If you’re looking for a rustic, charming wedding venue in Portugal, painted in the style of traditional Alentejo houses and offering an all-inclusive wedding package, Quinta da Bichinha might be the one for you! The first time I photographed a wedding there, I immediately understood why it’s so popular year after year – the beautiful lake, the surrounding vineyards, the helpful staff, and the incredible food (their codfish dish is amazing!) are all excellent reasons to choose it.

Quinta da Bichinha also offers accommodation for you and your guests, with 11 bedrooms on-site and 15 more nearby.
